"I've come to a few conclusions in my air gun addiction, er, education. 1) 2500 pellets used to seem like a lot of ammo to have on hand. It most certainly is not. Have I really let that much lead fly in only 4 months? 2) Shooting at paper targets only seems boring when you can't shoot worth a darn. But as soon as you start to develop even a bit of accuracy, it takes on a hypnotic appeal. 3) I can't just throw out containers anymore. I'm always looking at trash and thinking: 'Now that might make a good target.'"

"One little bit of news that I can pass along to everybody -- this is something that shoot356 would like to hear if he were here... Yesterday I was out at the farm shop taking the air compressor and tool box out of my pickup so I can take it to the body shop for repairs from the deer attack. My dad, who is 80, stopped by and we visited a while. I was telling him how I've kinda gotten into air rifles lately, and out of the blue he asked me if I wanted the old cheap 'pellet gun' he kept at the shop to take care of pigeons before he had his stroke. Actually, I wasn't aware that he ever had an 'old cheap pellet gun' that he kept at the shop. He said he got it at one of those traveling tool sales where they sell all of the really cheap Chinese made hand tools -- all of them under the Cummins brand. That kinda peaked my interest, so I went and dug it out of a corner where it was stacked with shovels and hoes, etc."
"So, sure enough -- I now have a B-3 to play with. I haven't had a chance to check out the bore or anything, but there is only a little rust on the outside. The orange paint is peeling off of the stock in a couple of places -- a good start as far as getting rid of that stuff I guess. So, I guess I'll see what I can do with it -- when (or if) I get the time. Oh, and the really great part of the whole deal was why my 80 year old dad was out and about in the first place -- he was out shooting his old .22 at some Pasture Rats!!!"

"Still hemming and hawing about a scope for the TF. I'm starting to see how a sidewheel could be really useful in terms of calculating how much pellet drop to allow for. Right now it's just a matter of intuition in predicting point of impact at various distances. Works fine for a tin can, but that won't do if I'm trying to shoot at targets. But I also want at least 16x, and that's putting me into the $200 range for a Leapers. To think I started this whole enterprise with a $60 gun that came with a scope."
"Getting pretty good shooting from the bench. But just for yucks, printed out an AG1 match target and tried off hand shooting today. What a humbling experience. I shot a whopping 102 out of 200. Completely missed the 7 of the 20 targets! Oh well, next time I'll shoot for a 103."
