WFTF Question....

Watched a YT vid from a guy from England talking about how to get more precision from your springer. Noticed he had something rectangular-ish attached to his barrel just behind the muzzle. In the vid he explained and described his gun and why each component was their. the barrel thingie was 180 grams of stick on wheel weights. Guessing it was to slow muzzle movement and help mitigate recoil. Read and reread the WFTF rules.... couldnt find any mention if allowed or not.  

Not sure Id add anymore weight (it would have to be an appreciable performance gain) to an already heavy rifle, even if allowed

I have seen the weights on the hunter carbine (HC), but have not seen them on the full length version.  I think I agree, that on the full length gun, it would add weight to an already front heavy gun.

I do have a weight on the front of my HC and I find that it does cut down on the vertical spread of the group.  The shorter HC still balances very well for offhand and kneeling.  I had an old AR barrel mount that I had reamed out to the size of the barrel on the TX and the bottom side of the mount machined to fit on each side of the latch.  I could pretty it up some, but pretty is not my goal, just knocking down targets.  There are the three holes on top where I took the picatinny rail off, so more weight could be added if desired.

I tried it and liked it, where others may try it and feel the opposite.  Only one way to know for sure.  Steve Privett (SP?) used one on his HC and as a multiple world champ, I figured he knew a thing or two.

It's not a question of just adding weight.

It's a question of tuning the harmonics to the moment of the pellet exit of the barrel.

This is what is done with the DIANA HPM.
