Scope recommendation for FT pistol limited division

Which scope would you guys recommend for pistol limited division for field target.

Keep it under $300.

UTG Swat 3-12x44 

Illuminated

Glass etched reticle only. 

Has half mil reticle.

what is the difference between compact and regular versions?

There is about a 4" difference between the two, and only about an ounce in weight. I used the Compact SWAT 3-12 utg at nats and it worked very well.

Now I am using a HAWKE Airmax 3-12x50 I picked up on the Yellow and it ranges a little better, but weighs more.

I would really like to try the hawke vantage 3-12x44 SF model, light weight but you'd have to figure out a wheel for it. The UTG scope dollar for dollar is by far the best and most user friendly scope for PFT on the market, I only shot holdover with them, couldn't give you any insight on how repeatable the clicking is.

I too shoot the UTG with mil dots. The glass etched reticle is superior as the half mils are hash marks. It allows more percise aiming for me. I can see it on those close shots at the min 1/2" KZs, better than the thick fat dot of the wire reticle.

I didn't know they made a 4-12. Learn something new every day! 

The eye cups that are cheapest and readily available are found here.

They work okay, most people I know who try them take them off. I'm not sure why but I don't typically see the top shooters use them.

What about the new BugBuster?  It's 3-12, side focus, mildot, more compact and around $85.  I like the two of the older 3-9X scopes, that I just might buy a 3-12 just for yuks.

I just recently used a 3-12 bug buster, it is nice and light weight. But I do believe the swat compact is a little better in optic quality. It weighs more/ is real strong, and is only $3 more on amazon.
