I try not to cant, I have a bubble level on my gun that keeps my gun pretty level. In some shooting disciplines, such as my crossbow endeavors, some shooters will cant into the wind in order to help "drift" the arrow into the target. I have also heard of smallbore 3 position shooters doing that as well.
I have been an avid competitor in both those disciplines over the years. I have found that canting for me, does not work, and is inconsistent. That's not to say it does not work, I just have had no success with that method.
