Does it aggravate anyone else?

Does it aggravate anyone else when a match director posts their results,  but without full names?

We all don't know every club member at matches,  but would be nice to see who is in your class that is doing well. You may need to compete against them at a Nationals, or GP. 

I find that I am playing a guessing game with the initials to see if it's someone I know.

“Until such time as hearing this "Last Name" request be made to me directly ..... Will stay with those who shoot at club events having some degree of anonymity, as well privacy.

My feeling are if folks wished there names be fully known they would be active on these AG forums where such data is shared .... as such 98% don't, it just supports their wishing to shoot, have fun and just leave it at that.”

I agree with you Paul. I wouldn't think a last name on a match results report would hurt anyone.

And may i add . ( being the MD in question here )  Those who shoot GP's, State Championships etc you very much so need to know who is shooting well being the off chance of a meeting up during the season. And SUCH EVENTS always have a shooters full name in the match reports.

Bunch of local "For Fun" shooters that never or very seldom venture outside the local clubs sand box .... leave em alone as there generally not that competitive in nature and having even a first name & last initial borders on too much info as too there skill level for some.   Simple reality IMO unless shown or proven otherwise.

We try and keep the month to month club shoot activities Light and for FUN !!  Those who shoot successfully outside club fun matches .. you likely already know who they are.

Scott, I was not singling you or any particular club. There are more then yours that have last name removed reports. 

I see can see the point about local shooters that don't do GPs. That said, yes we mostly know our fellow shooters that shoot GPs and Nats. But there are also quite a few newer shooters that shoot high scores, that we don't know.

Are they club members that shoot just local, or are they up and coming competitiors that will be going to larger matches to compete? 

If it is an AAFTA match to fufill the clubs membership requirement, I just figured that the names need to be on there in full. 

Why not leave it to the competitors, at the club, decide if they want thier names in full. I am sure some might be embarresed with their scores and prefer not.

However  i would imagine there the ones who shoot high scores  that are proud, and would not mind seeing their names in lights..... 

I just wanted to see if anyone felt like i did reading the reports. Not trying to change any clubs policy! 

I do appreciate hearing these opinions.

Valid points made and honestly our club has no set policy etc ....  It will be easy enough to simply ask at our next club event / match what general thought are about last names being in club event match reports ?  I can do that & will do that 👍 

Scott,  I think the genetal view is not necessary at the club level. I can understand the reasons. 

So with that, I will just accept the way its done and just learn to not let it bother me. 

Simpler for the one then the many....lol

Except for tiebreakers, you are not shooting against any one person anyhow.

Like golf, you are shooting against the course.

It does not rise to the level of aggravation but nice to see names and scores and equipment.  if you are not comfortable showing someone's full name it is really no big deal.

Have found myself wanting more info at times reading reports. Full names should be the shooters choice unless shooting for a GP. Then they would have to be posted eventually. 

Always felt the GP scores should be kept secret until the winners are announced though. So as to keep all things fair as possible. And to take any idea or notion of point scalping, low troyer courses and such out of the question. 

Not pointed at anyone or suggesting someone is doing these things. Just an issue being a possible flaw in my opinion! 

Motivation can bring evil out in the best of person, and there have been a few bad apples. But our community is amazing and I would like the best for all of them.

For AAFTA GP matches the last names typically need to be posted (at least to AAFTA) so they get proper credit on the GP standings.

I used to put the initial of the last name on the scoresheet (saves time) but have started adding full last names so I can remember who is who.

As for equipment and other stuff, when it comes to the match report i'm so freaking tired from doing the work to plan/host/run the match (as well as shoot it) I hard pass on adding all the equipment/information for each competitor (pistol and rifle).

I'd be more than happy to send the cards to those who want to add more information, but they will need to have all the data back to me before the match report posting deadline (10 days).  LOL
