New problem with HW95 cocking.

All of a sudden my HW95 wouldn’t cock. It just wouldn’t catch even at the end of the cocking stroke. 

I noticed that the rekord adjusting screw had disappeared!  I found it and re-installed it with a random spring that fit.  It still would not cock.

I took it apart to investigate and could see no problems.  

Out of frustration I used excessive force trying to cock it and it engaged. Now it cocks but sometimes it takes that extra umph at the end of the stroke. 

What is going on, here?

edit:  it has the vortek pg4 kit installed and about 3,000 pellets through it.

I’ve ordered a spring kit from JM. Maybe that’ll help.

Sounds like a trigger problem not mainspring. Suggest you get an OEM spring for the Rekord unit.

One is ordered from England.  I just saw that Jim has them on his site but I had already ordered one.

Yes definitely the trigger, I learned about this trying to get my HW77 trigger as light as my Anschutz 10 meter gun; just as I was getting close it stopped latching.  Dialed it back up and it clicks right into place.

I have encountered similar problems due to a broken main spring.
