I see that H&N says "PCP only" on their lead free pellets. Didn't have that on the wadcutters and so I ordered a tin. Why no use in a springer? Does it damage the rifle being harder to push down the barrel? Can I use them in my Izzy 46? Intended use was in a HW30s for very short range pesting. Didn't want my pets eating lead pellets if I wounded the pests and they catch it later. Thanks for any responses.

The origin of that label comes from two aspects:
-the very widespread misuse of the pellets
People will put the lead free into their Hatsan 135's and rejoice at the sonic crack. . . . Problem is that rifle will not last long on a steady diet of those and H&N does not want problems. SO, it's a CYA thing.
-the legal aspect that in some countries muzzle energy is limited by law
In moderate powered springers, the "heavy" versions of the lead free do not damage the gun, but they do exceed the legal power level.
As far as SSP's and small springers, no worries, use them to your heart's content.
IF you want to go to higher ME's then do use the 0.22" cal GTO's (10.75 grs.) , those are excellent pesting pellets and they can take up to 20 ft-lbs without loosing too much accuracy, nor damaging the gun.

It's very possible that your Izh 46 won't even get them out of the barrel. I recently reviewed the AV 46M, and couldn't use a lead free pellet that we often test with guns. Not enough power to get them out the barrel.

I've had pretty good luck with these in med-high powered springers, ie Gamo 440, Diana 34, B320 R9 clone. I think the weight is important. Good luck finding them though. Great lead-free pellets, but now unobtanium.
