IZH 46M help

Wow.  It's been a while since I've posted here!

Something happened to my beloved 46M.  Not sure how but the bottom seal, I guess the transfer port seal, blew out.  I had two extras in the maintenance kit.  But after I installed it, I can't get it to re-set the trigger.  When I recock using the piston arm it does lift the transfer block up to recock the trigger.  But when I press the transfer block down it just doesn't go down far enough to engage the latch on the sliding mechanism over the barrel.  

My apologies as I know pictures tell a thousand words.  I'll try to post some up but hoping someone can tell me what's going on by my description?

Update:

This hopefully shows what I’m talking about. Even if I press really hard the transfer block doesn’t engage the catch to hold it against the breech. 

What happened to the old seal?

Is it under the bolt?

Look under and inside...

well if the seals were removed the gun should function fine just leak air with no seals in place

so backup and take out the seal,s, and test function and if the gun functions right as in cocking then look at putting the seals in again

do not force any function or breakage could occur and parts are hard to find but available on Ebay from a Russian seller and I have done business with him on some 53m seals and they were time wise 16 days to the west coast and I had to sign for them

so backup and do some testing, I know you have done this already but these pistols seem to have been know to blow there transfer seals out, I anyway thought it was odd

He said he guesses the bottom transfer seal blew out.

I suspect it fell into the action behind the bolt and that is preventing the bolt from closing!

WTH?  I'm old and losing it.  Since my vision changed I haven't been shooting much because I just can't see well.  Now this is proof!  I put the seal in upside down and didn't even see it. Argh!

Problem fixed.

Getting old really sucks!

So, the seal did not blow out.

It was just flattened from use.

That is normal.

Now, remember to leave the bolt out of battery (not connected to the barrel) when the pistol is being stored.

Thanks Frank. Actually I do leave it unlatched so it doesn’t compress something I do with my springers too. 

I don’t know how I lost the bottom seal. Must have worn and fallen out. I had never replaced one before and just didn’t see I put it in upside down. I didn’t know the recesses were “inverse” beveled. 

Like I said, I haven’t been shooting much the past 18 months and just dumb and blind now.
