The roles was reversed many moons ago prior to the age of the Benjamin Marauder and other affordable PCPs. Looks like the last gun I sighted in was a .20, and these were in my range bag. That was at least 10 years ago. There was even a die #1 .20 CP box in there. I bet they sell for around $500 in today's market. I know there is not a big selection of .20 pellets today. Doc Beeman hyped it up so much you would think everybody would sell all their non .20 airguns to get one.

I still have and shoot a Beeman RX1 in 20 cal...works fine as long as I keep the shots at a reasonable distance... ?
My #1 pesting gun is a custom .20 L/W barreled Discovery carbine. It is the protector of the garden and berries. I use it because I almost never miss with it. Today alone it took out a broccoli raiding rabbit and about 10 starlings in the Mulberries and blueberries.
Do keep one co2 (HW rebarreled QB), one springer (Webley) and one PCP in 5mm (Webley/Hatsan Raider).

Problem is the current pellet supply. There are only a couple of CURRENTLY MADE 5mm's that are really worth a hoot.
As as demand decrease, the makers tend to run the pellet-dies longer than optimal for the best quaility. One the forming dies wear out, they look at it like this: " Do I spend the $$$ to make new dies for a slow-selling / unpopular pellet, of do I make new dies for high selling/popular pellet?"
Any way..as you are a 5mm fan...name these pellets (all 5mm):

Get 'em while you can.
If you are additced to "buy 4 get one free", then if any pellet order comes up short of 4/8/16/20/24/ etc....toss in a however many 5mm JSB's it takes to get you to somthing evenly divided by 4.
Off the top of my head: silver ace, silver jet, sheridan, silver point, logun penetrator, silver sting, don't know but they probably shoot terrible, ftt, cp, crow mag, eun jun, some type of rws wadcutter. ftt is the only one in production. I did a quick search and only three 5mm were worthwhile: jsb, ftt, and barracuda. I've taken so much game with the kodiak/barracuda pellet it isn't even funny.
Did really really well. The "don't know, but probably shoots terrible) pellet (#7) is the current production Benjamin "black tin" 14.2 version of the "cylindrical" pellet...and you are right, it shoots like "carp" in anything other than the low speed CO2 rifle.
Actually, I thought pellet #7 was the original Sheridan 'trash can' cylindrical in the plastic flip-top box, later replaced by #3, the latter of which might be (or might have been) a better shooter than #7. I don't see how #7 really ever had a chance, with the skirt being about the size of the bore, but with the smaller head thus able to bounce around all over the place in the same bore. At least #3 had a possibility of touching the bore at both ends of the pellet.
Yep..still a few yellow plastic boxes of Sheridan slugs about the place...and I've never found anything that really loved them.
Then again, I've shot them against the othert pellet os the 1950's and 1960's (basically greasy Benjamin HC pellets and Crosman's in the "pepper-box tin". The Sheridan slugs beat those, but don't stand up to the "good" pellets of today.
