FX Impact Compact is out!

Utah Airguns had a couple Impact Compacts come in. I jokingly asked the salesperson if they would sell me one. The owner was literally out trying it so I was told to text him. He agreed to sell it. ?

These things are amazing for the high shot count with a 300 cc bottle. I went for the .25, 70 shots per fill shooting JSB .25gr at 900 fps. My son shot it and wanted one too. They had one .22 and also agreed to let him buy it. I was surprised because they usually keep them for testing and to customize. His is getting 100 shots per fill. ?  I can't think of another shorty that has a high count magazine and high shot count. Bottle is removable so I could also carry a 480cc bottle and really shoot for the day. All the regular Impact accessories fit it as well. 500 mm barrel and 300cc bottle are the only difference between it and the standard Impact. So once released standard Impact owners could buy the barrel and bottle and have a Compact.

The secret is in the Power Plenum. Increased plenum volume allows for lower regulator pressure so you have more usable air. I'm running mine at about 90 bar compared to my old standard that is around 140 on the reg. So that gives me an extra 50 bar to shoot with. 

Older Impacts can have the Power Plenum installed. I was told they were having trouble keeping up with the demand and would not be able to get my older Impacts upgraded for some time. Being a bit impatient I decided to buy the new standard as well. Yesterday they informed me they had upgrade kits available. Great, now you tell me. ?  So I dropped my non Power Plenum Impacts off today for the upgrade. It replaces most of the internals so it will be the same as the newest guns.

My only disappointment is the noise. The .25 without a moderator is LOUD. With the Donny FL installed it's more than backyard friendly. This just adds to the length though. My sons non-moderated .22 is much more quiet and he doesn't need the moderator unless he wanted full stealth mode.

Did a little paper punching with it. Does not like .25 Hades. 25 gr and 33 gr JSB's did fine in it.

I have a .25 Leshiy and love it. There is something to be said for a high capacity magazine and great shot count. I'd built up an Airforce in a .25 as well. Little power house. I try to show them all a little love when I can. ?

Spent yesterday with my son and brother-in-law decreasing the Pot Gut population. My boy was using his new Impact Compact in a .22. That gun shoots amazing! He was nailing everything.

The day before I'd been out alone using the .25 Compact. I'd set up a target range to practice on. I felt good that I'd hit a Pot Gut silhouette at 50 yards off hand, with a little practice. I'd told him about it. He gets out of they UTV asks "Where is it?" and then proceeds to a one shot head shot. Damn kids. ? ?  

This is a rare photo. My brother-in-law is hard to get out. He LOVED it! Almost giddy with excitement. He has a .25 Hatsan Flashpup. I have one too. I warned him about the stiff cocking but the price was too tempting. It does shoot well. We traded guns and the first time he cocked the Impact I heard him mumble "Oh my". ? 

I actually spent most the day shooting a Diana Bandit pistol. With a few tweaks that is a great little shooter. It surprised the other guys with under 30 yard hits. Frankly, me too. Fun, fun day.

How you like them compacts, Leshiy is SPF. Only question... .22 or .25

I REALLY like them. The more I shoot it the better I like it. My son has the .22. Very accurate using JSB Hades. Noticeable whap difference between his and my .25. The .22 will move the hanging target, the .25 will swing it. He has an Uragan Compact too. I don't see that coming out it's case for some time now.

The reason I didn't go with the .22 was I have too many compact .22's. Uragan Compact, 2 Mutant Shortys and another Impact set up as a .22. My .25's don't seem to care for the Hades in a .25. My son had the FX Warcat in a .25 and I had the FX Wildcat Compact and both didn't do well with the Hades in a .25.

My Leishy is a .25. Another favorite of mine. Just it's having a hard time getting any shooting time over the higher shot count high capacity Impact.  

I can't see how you can go wrong with the Impact. Long barrels and air tank fit it if you ever want other options. Win, win.

This was interesting. I'd had a Impact in for the Power Plenum upgrade. It's a .22 600 mm barrel with a Huggett full shroud. It was my "Compact" before FX came out with the new one. Here it is compared to the new .25 Compact with a Donny FL on it. I mention the caliber because my son has the .22 Compact and it is plenty quiet with the factory shroud. The .25 is NOT. It's loud. So you have to pick up the extra length to quiet it.

I'd bought the .25 thinking I already had the .22 that was short. I didn't know about the noise difference at the time.

So the same length with the needed moderator on the .25. Plus the full size bottle. Hmmmm.

Took my Compact to an indoor 100 yard tunnel range today. It did better than I expected. Fun gun!

Hit the 100 yard dime with only one sighter shot. ? 

My son was shooting an Impact with the new 700 mm "Superior" liner in it. Both guns are set up as .25. I have to give this round to the Compact.

The last few times out shooting I was missing what I would have considered easy hits with the Compact. It seemed to group well so I didn't think it was clipping but wasn't sure. Lazy Sunday so I drilled out the moderator and swapped out the Night Force scope for an older Hawke just to see what would happen. Accuracy is great and it stayed consistent.

I've also felt that the .25 Hades do not shoot as well as the the 25 gr JSB Diablos. I did not try to find a "sweet spot" speed wise for the Hades. Just loaded  a magazine with them and shot under the same conditions as the Diablos. Quite a bit if difference in poi.

 Can't wait to go field test it now.
