Diana 54 soft Tune ?

I've put a couple Vortek hi power kits in my 48's and like them for hunting  but if like to tune my two 54's down towards 12fpe.

Is like to do it "on the cheap" with just a new spring,a polish and new seals and lubes.What spring should I order? Other tips to smooth the shot cycle? 

Use a Maccari/ARH GRT spring on a good factory guide (replace the factory guide if there are any signs of cracking, etc.  The cost for a new factory guide including the steel base washer from Umarex is probably around $15).

Don't add any spacers inside the piston, but use a Dremel tool to lightly polish any sharp ends of the spring.  Use some spring tar (or some kind of adhering 'semi-thick lube') on the ID and OD of the spring but don't get any between the coils.  Also, use his Large Apex piston seal IF your existing seal has any known problems or is questionable.  Put a little dab of moly paste on the sides of the seal (not the front) to lubricate it.

I can't promise you 12 FPE but it will definitely be less than full power.  Cocking effort will be less, and your scope will also love you for it because of less snap during the shot cycle.

I've never used Vortek lubes so I can't comment on them.  In any case, I didn't mean to confuse you.

Please note that I not only said "semi-thick lube", but I said "adhering" semi-thick lube.  I meant something that would adhere or stick to the spring without getting thrown down the chamber toward the piston seal when the spring expanded upon trigger pull and release of the piston.  ARH carries a couple of things that would work for that if you didn't overdo the thickness of the coating.  In other words, the thicker the coating the more-likely that it could get slung off the spring.  So, while the ARH spring tar probably fits that description the best, their Euro Lube would also do that if applied in a thinner coat.  Or, you could use a thin coat of moly-graph grease like Sta-Lube sells.  Even your Honda moly paste would work if the coat was thin enough.  The benefit of ARH black spring tar as designed for air gun mainsprings is that it not only provides the lubrication you want and need, but it also helps dampen spring vibration.

I put an RWS34 spring in mine. 14ish fpe with FTT 8.4s and, tar. Nice shot cycle.
