CROSMAN Giant #231 POWERLET vs Modern #231B POWERLET

I have a very nice CROSMAN 1100 TrapMaster Shotgun and from the condition I decided to charge it and check function.

I have a bunch of shells also.

BUT, The Operators Manual says to use ONLY the GIANT #231 12.5gr POWERLETS.

Will the newer 231B 12gr Powerlets work? Are they interchangeable?

If not, are there any GIANT 231s out there still??

Are we talking the normal 12G CO2, 16g CO2, 80g CO2, threaded, unthreaded, what?

Dude- As it says in the text "The GIANT #231 12.5gr vs the Modern #231B 12gr Powerlets".

i just read the owners manual and i didn't see a mention of the size of the cartridge in grams 

they do call them giant but is that just a product name 

the gun was made in a time when all other Crosman co2 gun were use what we use today and with that stuff 2 cartridges in the fire it up 

there is no info on Google about 12.5gr cartridges and seeing that they are not made today you have 2 choices, hang it on the wall or gas in up

Thanks for the return. Under Operating Instructions of the 1100 Manual  it says "The Valve system in this shotgun is designed to perform at peak efficiency using Crosman CO2 Giant Powerlets, Model #231".

Part I am concerned with is..."Other CO2 cylinders may damage the gun or piercing system".

Go ahead and gas it up with modern co2 carts, won't hurt a thing.  If it hasn't been used for years, you will probably have to reseal it or have it done.  You can shoot round balls in it too but I forget the size.  I have a DAQ upper on a 2240 that will shoot the shot shells or the round balls.  Pretty cool guns and I have only used modern co2 carts in my 1100, don't forget a drop of pellgun oil on the tip of the cart.

the thing is co2 is going to be under the same pressure no matter what size that come in 

the terms in the manual was more then likely just pushing you to buy there products

That's so people will only buy the Crosman ones!

The old 12.5g and the modern 12g ones are the same size. While there may be a couple of thousandths difference in length between different manufacturers (also neck diameter), they are interchangeable.
