CE ProChrono Digital w/Bluetooth

 My 20+ year old CE ProChrono was giving me some strange readings while testing the PCarb(Marauder Pistol Carbine). I removed the battery to test it and pulled one of the wires off the connector. I've been wanting a new chronograph for quite a while to take advantage of some of the new technology but the old CE just wouldn't die, even after a night out in the rain 15 years ago. I figured this was as good a reason as any so I sprang for the ProChrono Digital w/the Bluetooth transmitter. They will have a unit out with integrated Bluetooth but I'm not waiting. Review videos looked good too.

 Received it, paired it with my tablet and gave it a whirl...……. SWEET so far! Maybe I am just used to writing down velocities one at a time and anything would be a thrill but the features were a real treat. I sat at a shooting bench and only moved to gas up the PCarb.

 The unit w/Bluetooth transmitter strapped to the side(pointed out) and a sample of the report you can generate. You can also generate a graph and export to .csv files for spreadsheet import. I happy!

PS They sell a nicer light kit but my frugality kicked in and this one still works.

Congrats on the new ProChrono. I've been pretty happy with mine. I don't have the Bluetooth adapter for mine so I write the numbers down in a little notebook the old fashioned way, lol. But I did get the IR light kit for it and I'm pretty happy with that too, even though it was a little pricey. So far everything has worked very well.

I set mine up in the basement, which is why I got the light kit. I messed up one time and left the fluorescent lights on above the work bench while using it. Ran two 10-shot strings over it before I realized the bench lights were still on, lol. I'd read that most chronos don't like fluorescent lights but I never got a single error and, right or wrong, I attribute that to the IR light kit. I shut the bench lights off and ran those strings again and there was only about 5-8fps difference between with (slower) and without (faster) the fluorescent lights on.

BTW, don't leave this one out in the rain. Daveshoot can tell you it doesn't like it, lol. But he found out that they have some pretty good customer service. IIRC, he got his either repaired or replaced for about $30, including the cost of shipping it to them.

 I would encourage you to set aside a few bucks here and there and spring for the Bluetooth, it is a huge advantage when paired with your phone, tablet or PC. My justification is, hey, its who we are right? Also, look at all the neat reports and graphs your missing out on. I've always thought these were the mostis for the leastis

 After the night out in the rain, I took the housing off, blew it out and let it sit in the AC until dry. It hasn't skipped a beat since. I'm actually going to solder the wire back on and fire it back up. I may use it to confirm the new one or calculate BC's. I won't discard something that works, I'm still using a "Brick" cell phone.  ;?)

 Today was a big air gun day. Had my fiber wrapped tank hydro'ed, tried out a new JB gauge & hose assembly for it and gave the PC version of Competition Electronics software a full shake down.

 I prefer PC's, I find it easier to do a variety of tasks on them ; tablets I mostly use for reading and passive Internet browsing, and phones, well, usually only for making calls. I like the features of the CE PC application better than the Android version. The Android version only displays the velocities(shown in the red box, middle picture) and has a dropdown menu of functions to select from in the red shaded area. You can see the PC version keeps all the statistics on the screen updated in real time. Both versions give audible velocity readings which I find annoying(and turn off) but some may like. Both export all previously mentioned data.
