Pretty good scopes from Hakko which had that nifty feature for extree light gathering. I used to wonder why other companies didn't follow suit and create their own versions. Or maybe someone had, I just haven't seen it.

I just sold one of those. They are nice scopes. I still use a 66R, A SS1, a SS2 4x, and a SS3 1.5-4. They are nifty scopes.

It's 18 degrees here in central Minnesocold. I haven't been out with the airguns lately.
Nowadays it is batteries. Have not seen a similar replacement in the market. I bet someone has tried, and I suspect the technology couldn't keep up with today's scope advancements.

Recently watched a minty 66RL go for just under $600 on ebay. I have 2 new old stock SS2L's, a 3x and a 4x. The scope lighting works good and stays relatively proportionate to ambient lighting conditions. Nifty little scopes for what they are. I think a 66RL would be a pretty cool acquisition.
I bought one used off of Brad's Classifieds to use with an R7 that I was buying (also used) for my son, probably in 2004 or so.
The 66RL is a great little scope... perfect for the R7 !
The "Speed Dials" were confusing until I read about how to set them in one of the Beeman catalogs (Edition 16 1990-1991), since I didn't get any instructions with the scope when I bought it.
I still shoot the R7 since my son is grown and living in an apartment away from home.
