Is there an airgun calculator like on the old?

Wanted to figure out FPE for .22 springer.

Thanks

Please let me know if some ballistic (interior, exterior, and terminal) algorithms might be useful.

For example, I sourced the arithmetic used in the latter five calculators in the Pyramydair link above.

Appreciated. I will take this to email for further discussion.

A public discussion might add content to the forum.  At least a few members may be interested in airgun ballistics.

Maybe more than a few.   ?

I'd prefer that.

There have been numerous attempts at creating a program which can model the internal working of a springer, mainly using complex time stepping equations. The biggest problem is in establishing the values of some of the variables such as piston seal and pellet barrel friction under high pressure and high speed conditions. Models have been created (I have one myself) which, if calibrated against a known configuration, can predict the effect of changes to the internal system to a reasonable degree (often to within +/- 2%). Personally I would never trust the answers sufficiently to start making major modifications or starting from scratch. Without calibration the models can be as much as 10% in error. They all need caution in use as it is easy to get very wrong answers from them.

The first such models I encountered are now over 30 years old and were based on the early work of people such as Gerald Cardew.

I have always liked this link...

The demos are very informative and I particularly like the interaction of them. I  find that

the ballistic demos are quite accurate. The problem though is that they require Adobe Flash

to work and word on the net is that Adobe will discontinue support for Flash in the near

future. It would be great if a conversion to a newer interactive app could be used.

Yup.  Perry Babin is a genius.  It was a privilege (and lots of fun) to collaborate with him on a few of those demos.
