Air tank reads 4250psi, but Cricket won't charge past 3000psi.

The following may be confusing because my tank gauges are in psi and the gun gauge is in bar.

So my Kalibr Cricket is excellent, a real workhorse and responsible for hundreds of squirrels shuffling off their mortal coils.  But in the last year I noted that it will not charge up to its 300bar capacity (4350psi) when attached to my tank which shows 4500psi.

Today the fill tank with Brancato gauges says 4250psi.  With the valve open fully the Cricket gauge goes to 3000psi and stops.  The rifle functions just fine, but I can't figure out why the two gauges never come to match.

Any thoughts?

Your tank probably has a 3000 psi output regulator on it.

Have you sucessfully filled it to 300 bar using your current fill set up in the past?

Do you count the number of shots when you had it at 300 bar/4350psi and count now at 3000 psi? if the shot count is the same then the gauge on your gun is broken.

There is a safety feature on the Cricket which prevents the user from filling the gun too fast, perhaps have you tried to just open your fill tank all the way and let it sit like that while plugged into the gun for longer than 15-30minutes? That safety feature may be stuck. You may want to try to leave it plugged in with the tank valve wide open for a longer period of time.

I don't think so.  It used to fill the cricket to 260bar (3771psi) in the past.

I am using the TigerShark with dual gauges from Brancato.  As near as I can tell it is not outfitted with an output regulator.

I wonder if the gauge on the Cricket is out of synch.  I have never let it completely degas, so I dont' think it has ever relaxed clear down to zero psi.  Perhaps its 'zero' is actually 1000psi now.

Yes, I have successfully filled the Cricket with this tank to 260 bar (3771psi).

No, I don't count my shots.  I get through 4 mags (48 rounds total) before refilling...but I don't note the pressure before filling again.

Don't know if the Cricket is being filled too fast by my system.  The fill tank has the following standard features from Brancato:

1) Large 2.5 inch STAINLESS STEEL USA MADE Glycerin Filled Dual Scale Gauge (The highest quality and American Made gauge made) and

2) Optional second gauge that constantly shows the pressure inside my tank.

3) 40 inch Micro-bore hose that is 0.070" Inside Diameter and rated over 9,100 PSI Working Pressure and has Stainless-Steel Strain Relief at each end

4) TJ3 SLO-FLO Gun Fill Valve for more controlled Filling of your PCP aorgun vs. an economy or SCBA valve.

Once the gauge on the gun reaches 3000psi. can you still hear air going into the gun? If you can't hear the air going into the gun at any point, you could attach a flow meter to the tank, to see if air is still going into the gun after the gauge on the gun, reaches 3000psi. hth

You could let the fill tank pressure down to around 2500 psi and shoot the gun down low. Fill the gun then and see how close it is to equal the fill tank pressure. Should at least let you know if the gun gauge is off. Less risk of over filling the gun if the fill tank is high and the gun gauge is reading low you could be over filling the gun and not know it.

That's just a sad business practice.
