Can someone help me out. I bought two Aeon scopes. They both have this screw/plug. What is it for. I assume factory maintenance, but unsure. I have a bunch of Leopolds, Vortex and an Aztec, none have it. The manual sucks. (Yes this is a picture of a Bushnell I found online, but same screw/plug)

I have not had one apart, but I would guess that is the retainer for the erector spring. Also an indication that it uses a coil spring on the erector, rather than a leaf spring.

Yep. That's the cap over the coil-spring.
