Pell Seat

I was stocking up on a couple tins of Beeman ammo at my local gun shop when i noticed some dusty old plastic cases with beautifully machined aluminum? pellet seating tools inside. One end is to push the pellet in and the other to round out the skirt and conform it to the riflings, decreasing blow by and giving more consistent velocities. As it was only $12.00, i picked one up. Just wondering if anyone out there uses these tools and if they indeed add noticable accuracy or velocity to your shooting? I'll gladly post my own results with it as i have a chance to try it out..J

I made one and some guns really benefit from it. My 1250 likes to have the pellet seated well.

Gonna take me a bit to figure it out, if it helps accuracy i sure couldn't tell it when shooting today. Wiith or without didn't seem to have much effect but then again i was already using my guns favorite pellets. It probably helps the most noticably when using the guns WORST pellets as it resizes the skirt seal a bit, depending on the pellet. I'll bet i do see a slight improvement when i get it on a chrony as any skirt abnormality would create a velocity fluctuation of some kind. If so i'll holler back at ya'll..J

I'm curious as to the seat end of the tool. CPHP's are the only pellets that fit tight on loading in either gun. I started taking a ball point pen and pushing them about an 1/8th of an inch into the rifling. I couldn't tell the difference in accuracy.

Here's my question: would seating the pellet raise the chamber pressure's, or produce more stress on the spring like a "heavy pellet?

Good question IDABOW, Like you, i can tell no difference in accuracy, but then again i'm shooting the best pellets for the particular gun in question. It might not get any better with the human error figured in. If i used some loose fitting pellets i'd think the skirt flaring end tool might make a difference.

I'll bet chamber pressure does rise a bit but as the pellets skirt is just barely contacted, it's probably not enough to cause any concerns.
