CPHP

What kind of weights are you guys seeing for these?
I ask because I've read 8.5 gr, but checking mine individually and then in groups I find they are ranging from
8 to 7.8 gr with random 10 pellet groups averaging about 79.2 gr.

Wondering if I need to check my scale? or if others are seeing similar weights...

I'm getting around 5gr for the miracle Gamo PBA pellets.
Anyone want these, the best pellets ever? They even come in a bullet shaped container...:nod:

I've never used lighter pellets than 7.5grains. The piston has more tendency to slam into the transfer port face due to light pellet compared to heavier ones. Better be safe than sorry.

the pba's are spoken for...my parents stopped in for a bit and he wanted them to shoot in his p.o.s. 760. Maybe the accuracy will improve with less power...

Didn't you just get a rcbs scale? That's the same scale I have.

Really? Cool! I got mine from a yard scale way way cheap! :D I haven't scaled one weighing less than 7.9gr. Most of the problem that I see with CPHP is that the skirt is not usually the same in diameter, some are tight fit but most are just the size of the bore. No complaints 'coz it's cheap and my G-1 likes the CPHP a lot. My good to go pellet for any occasion (can't afford to use the expensive pellets for now). :lol:

Yeah I got almost the same weighing scale as some of you guys, except mine is a little differnent. I'm averaging around 7.82 - 8.18. I think that you can get a lot more accuracy if you clean the pellets, just look at my picture on the left side, those pellets are CPHP's. The one on the left is cleaned by hand with an old rag, the one on the right is of a pellet stright out of the tin. want to talk about dirty!!!

It's a coat of graphite 1shotwander. I'm still thinking what is the purpose of the graphite coat on a pellet but I'm not bothered except for the dirty fingers during practice. :D Haven't tried to clean my pellets once. I just shoot them straight right out of the can. It's the only kind of pellet I'm using right now.

I think the graphite coating is there to stop oxidation. All the cp's that I shoot get cleaned first. A jar of warm soapy water shaken for a few minutes then dryed then a light coat of orange pledge . I think that orange pledge gives me better accuracy than standard pledge I hit my mark more often than Hehe only jokin I just like the smell. But I do find a little better accuracy after cleaning than not + clean fingers:thumb:

Oh yeah, forgot about that. Lead easily oxidizes if left exposed on air. Thanks for the reminder NJPhil! :thumb:

I have never cleaned my CPHP pellets. Just like ST... I shoot them right from the tin! I also use them because Wally World has them for cheap too and ready at $7 dollars for 500! So, is it really worth cleaning them? I know that when you are trying to get every advantage on accurate shooting every bit helps... but how much is too much?

stilkikin you're right, graphite is a dry lube. when i was a wee lad in boy scouts we used graphite powder on the axles of our pine wood derby cars to reduce friction.

maybe somebody could do some chrony tests with graphite and non-graphite pellets? it would be interesting to see if there's a difference

Me too! I have a tin of cphp's that I put some pure moly powder in.. not sure if I should clean them off or just shoot em....

I've tried cleaning and not cleaning and can't tell the difference in accuracy or penetration into a target. It's a lot easier to clean my fingers after shooting than cleaning a whole tin of pellets. Just don't suck your thumb if you get too uptight. :lol: :lol: :lol:
