Ruger Airhawk

Hello,
I am overrun with rabbits in my gardens and must use an airgun to eliminate them.I have a Ruger Airhawk and its capable. I have directed airgun games and am aware of Feinwerbau and other high end weapons.

The scope that came on this rifle is the worst I have seen and it seems the grooves on the action will not take Weaver type scope mounts so I can put a good, one inch Amerucan style scope on this weapon. Are there scope rings suitable for this weapon that will utilize 1 inch scopes?What pellet do you suggest for eliminating rabbits cleanly?

Domed, pointed or hollow point pellets, which ever shoots the best in your gun, these will all drop a rabbit with a good shot.
As for rings I like one piece rings personally and have never had a problem with the heavy duty UTG 1 inch scope rings. I'm not sure if your looking for scope suggestions as well but either way you will probably get more responses if you move this to the airgun optics forum.

Yes, most scopes provided by the manufactures are not the best quality ?

And due to your air rifle being a "SPRINGER" it requires an Air Gun Rated scope, a scope capable of taking the double recoil of a springer type air gun.

Your air rifle has a 11mm dovetail to mount your rings and scope to. I do not know if your scope has a 30mm or 1 inch barrel, but yes you can buy a mount that will allow you to use the Weaver Mount but you will also need the rings to mount your scope on it.

By the way, the Weaver mount also uses the 11mm dovetail on your receiver.

The most common size for scopes is 1 inch, 30mm tend to be very expensive so most likely you will be getting a 1inch scope

That was true at one time, when the 30mm tubes were mostly used on Tactical Weapons. Now days, many of the more modestly priced, but still excellent quality, manufacturers offer a wide variety of 30mm tube scopes in the same price range as their 1 in. models. Leapers and BSA come to mind right off, but there are several others.

This is pretty much academic though. For most Airgun uses the tube diameter doesn't make that much difference, and there are a wide variety of rings for either size. Welcome to AirgunOne BTW gene. :thumb:
